A Magical Festive Celebration
One of my favourite projects this Christmas was transforming a beautiful Edwardian home for a special festive celebration, creating bespoke floral installations that flowed seamlessly from room to room.
The brief was to design elegant Christmas décor that felt abundant, colourful and welcoming, while complementing the character of the house.
In the entrance hall, the staircase became a natural focal point as people arrived. I created a luxurious garland using a mix of fresh seasonal foliage, woven with colourful dried grapefruit slices and cinnamon to add movement, scent and colour as guests arrived.
The sitting room fireplace was dressed with generous layers of winter greenery, finished with dried grapefruit slices, colourful ribbons and seasonal textures. The citrus added warmth and fragrance, while bringing a contemporary twist to traditional Christmas styling.
The kitchen was the centre of the party so it was important to really make a statement there. Rather than decorating only the surfaces, we looked upwards to create something unexpected. Suspended above the island, directly over the buffet table, was a bespoke ceiling installation made from fresh seasonal foliage. Hanging from the greenery were dozens of colourful baubles of different sizes and textures, each suspended at different heights using coordinating satin and velvet ribbons. The effect was playful, elegant and created a real sense of occasion without taking up valuable table space.
To complete the room, the fireplace and a large Christmas tree were styled using the same colour palette, ribbons and decorations, creating a beautifully cohesive look throughout the space. We used small details around the room such as mini garlands above picture frames and coordinating ribbons on candles to really tie it all together.
One of the things I enjoy most about festive styling is designing installations that feel completely personal to each client. Every home, venue and celebration is different, and thoughtful details can transform a space into something truly memorable for family, friends and guests.
